This book is designed as a companion book to "Play the Harp Beautifully Level 1 and Level 2. Each piece has two page numbers listed after it in the table of contents, designated "skills" and "notes." The pieces are designed to follow along the method books and give you interesting repertoire to play as you progress. Each piece has specific instructions to assist you in becoming adept at the harp in your technique and your phrasing.

French harpist, composer and teacher Alphonse Hasselmans was professor of harp at the Paris Conservatory. Hasselmans trained a generation of the most important French harpists of the 20th century, including Henriette Renie, Marcel Tournier, Carlos Salzedo, Marcel Grandjany, Lily Laskine, and Pierre Jamet.

Grandjany's famous Petite Suite Classique has become a staple of the repertoire for the intermediate pedal harpist. The dance suite is a mixture of various Baroque composers' styles; "Joyful Overture" in the style of Purcell, "Gigue" Remembrance of Kuhnau, "Gavotte" Reference to Lully, "Siciliana" without pedals- Aeolian Mode, "Passepied" Homage to the Couperins, and "Bourree" in the style of Handel.

Volume one of this collection contains 28 short pieces for beginner lever or pedal harp. Pieces from such classical composers as Albeniz, Mozart, Lully, Purcell, Bochsa and many more. This is the first volume in a 4 volume set. 18 pages.
