Glinka, Mikhail, Variations on a Theme of Mozart and Nocturne (LHS)
The Variations on a Theme of Mozart includes an alternate piano part so that harpists can choose between two versions. The Nocturne is the solo harp part only; this piece was originally written for piano but falls beautifully under the harpist's fingers. A truly gorgeous piece, the Nocturne has a lilting melody over an arpeggiated bass. The hands reverse towards the end of the piece, as right hand arpeggios complement a left-hand octave melody. Often a recital piece for classical harpists, this composition is a must-have for any pedal harpist. This variation set and peaceful coda are intended for the intermediate-advanced pedal harpist. 27 pages
