Yun, Isang, Novellette
Composed in 1980 by Isang Yun, Novellette is a chamber work for harp and flute ad libitum with violin and cello or violin and viola. This graceful contemporary chamber work is a wonderful addition to any concert program.
Korean-born composer Isang Yun made his later career in Germany and synthesized elements of traditional Korean music with Western avantgarde music. He experimented with 12-tone technique as well as what he called post-serialistic "sound compositions." Yun is also known for incorporating techniques from Korean music into his compositions that are tailor-made for performance on the harp such as glissandi and pizzicati.
