Tournier, Marcel, Vers la Source
Marcel Lucien Tournier (1879-1951) studied harp under R. Martenot and Alphonse Hasselmans at the Paris Conservatoire, where he was awarded first prize in harp in 1899– In 1912 he was appointed harp professor at the Paris Conservatoire where he trained many well-known harpists. This solo for the intermediate-advanced pedal harpist is an perfect expression of the flowing French performance style pioneered by Alphonse Hasselmans. Making extensive use of pedals and enharmonic synonyms, this piece is rich with harmonic complexity while preserving a lyrical sweetness that is sure to impress any recital audience, competition jury, or audition panel. 8 pages This piece is one of the options for the New Artist's division of the 2018 Young Artist's Harp Competition.
