Krenek, Ernst, Sonata fur Harfe (Sonata for Harp), Op. 150
A wonderful contemporary work for harp, composed in 1955 by Ernst Krenek. This work is harmonically complex, with many pedal changes, but has a timeless elegance. Krenek studied composition with late-Romantic composer Franz Schreker and was interested in both neo-classical and aleotoric styles of music. This work is dedicated to harpist Nicanor Zabaleta. A spectacular source of both technical study and solo recital material. Suitable for the advanced pedal harpist. 8 pages This piece is one of the options for Stage 2 of the 11th USA International Harp Competition in Bloomington, IN, June 2019–
