Three Italian airs by Rossini arranged for solo harp by Parish Alvars, D. Piana

Originally written by Italian opera composer Gioachino Rossini between 1830 -35 as a set of 12 songs in the Bel Canto style, Parish Alvars arranged these beautiful tunes for the harp. They are full of verve, either marked by melodrama or by the proverbial Italian zest for life. These short pieces could be be used for recitals, competitions and would make great encores. Meticulously researched and annotated by Dominique Piana and beautifully printed. The text of the original songs is included. Pedal markings are minimal, accidentals have been chosen to facilitate ideal pedaling. A very worthwhile addition to the printed harp literature.

Short early classical work for intermediate level pedal harp and treble instrument

Charming sonata for flute and harp, appropriate for an intermediate level pedal harpist with a strong developing technique. Pedal changes are not numerous, they are marked and are not difficult. As is typical with harp music of the early classical period, this is keyboard writing applied to the harp - fast repeated notes on the same string, Alberti base figures and the like. At least, unlike Mozart, Krumpholltz was a harpist, so there are no awkward five finger passages, everything fits well on the four finger hand. Ornamentation is sparse and could be omitted for the less advanced player. Each of the movements is only two or three pages long, so learning the entire piece should be a manageable assignment, less advanced players could take on even a single movement for ensemble practice. A very worthwhile addition to the literature for the intermediate harpist. Flute part - which could be played by violin or oboe as well - is included as a separate part.
